Do the Liberal Elites really want gays to be married, or will that hurt their platform?

If gays could get married, and if abortions where resolved.

Wouldn't that cripple Liberal platform and hurt their voters base? Since it would be resolved and they can't use it as a crutch to get votes.

I wonder this because Obama isn't doing anything for the gay community. Neither is Hillary Clinton. They kind of just forget about it.

Plus Liberal states keep rejecting gay marriage. Like California and Maine.

They don't want it to pass. They'll lose a ';political issue'; that they easily have.Do the Liberal Elites really want gays to be married, or will that hurt their platform?
Yes, I want gay people to have rights. christian supremacists dehumanizing people based on bronze age fairy tales makes me sick, just like you.Do the Liberal Elites really want gays to be married, or will that hurt their platform?
The truth is that nobody really cares much about the gays except for the Republicans.

Republicans love to talk about the gays and seem to have a habit of voting them into office more than the Dems do.

If a gay wanted to get ahead he should get into Republican politics like so many of them do.
They are so fragmented now... that if the GOP actually became a responsible fiscally Conservative party, then many would move over. May I remind everyone that 40% of the PORK in the spendulus bill was Conservative.
because some liberals actually can have good morals, but not usually. i live in california and i think it was that because the court overruled our vote which angered more people into saying yes on 8, which banned gay marriage.
They are using the issue for two reasons . One , to break down the family culture and two to create division among the people .
No because if it were legalized conservatives would continuously try to get it overturned, like abortion.
Did the eventual Abolition of Slavery hurt the Republican platform, because Abolitionists had founded the Republican party? If Republicans can find new planks to build a platform, then so can the Democrats.
It would make me really happy. A secular government and equal rights! =)
why, it would be so damn un-PC to be against *gay marriage and similar issues! Hell, yes, it would hurt their platform.
No it would be OK.
Humans tend to view their adversaries (and other groups in general) as more homogeneous than they are. Liberals consist of a wide variety of groups who want the government to take action on their behalf; some care a lot about homosexual marriage (and make a lot of noise about it), some don't.

In California, if I remember correctly, ';civil unions'; were and are already legally recognized, giving many or all of the legal rights of marriage. The fight there was largely about what to call it.

This issue and homosexuals voting for Democrats remind me of the old joke about the two guys confronted with an angry bear. One guy (the Democrat?) immediately reached down to put on his tennis shoes. His friend asked him, ';You don't seriously think you can outrun a bear?'; The response: ';I don't have to be faster than the bear. I just have to be faster than you!';
Has nothing to do with a platform, just freedom for people to live their lives with the same freedoms as I have.

I have no problem with gay people getting married.

Demographics say that this will happen because the redneck ways of the US are dying out with the generational shift. Thank god.
