And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
What if they are widowed? What if they are divorced? What if they are too young to be married? What if no one is interested in them?Does the Holy Bible assume that all women are married?
In synagogue worship (and in traditional Christian worship, especially in the Middle East - and even in Greece today) men and women stand/sit separately. Paul didn't want married women to shout their questions to their husbands who were some distance away. ';Wait 'til you get home.'; was practical advice for keeping order in the meeting.
Widows wouldn't have anyone to shout to, nor would the young and/or unmarried, who would be with their mothers. Paul didn't have to talk about them. They, too, could ask their questions without disturbing the meeting by waiting until afterward.Does the Holy Bible assume that all women are married?
Women lived in their parent's household then until they got married, so they would ask their fathers. The Bible talks plenty about divorce as well. Divorced/single women should ask their fathers, an older woman, or possibly an elder/pastor in the church. It's a simple answer to find, just gotta connect a few pieces.
1Cor.14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
That's ludicrous. This scripture specifically addresses married men and women.
Paul was talking to Christians who were Jews...it was their culture/society...he was biased.
*We go through the lense of Jesus. We are gentiles.
I never heard Jesus saying anything like that...
They can ask the Pastor
That letter was to the Corinthian church, all their women may have been married.
If they got divorced, they re-married and had about 240977230 more kids.
The only thing the Holy Bible assumes is that people today are really stupid
