No, they don't always check, but it can happen. Don't cheat and claim you are married if you aren't - the trouble you can cause yourself by doing that isn't worth taking the chance.Does the IRS allways check to see if people are married when they file jointly on taxes?
Whew, first you want to ';live in sin'; and then you want to lie about it to the IRS? What's wrong with a marriage ceremony? That's a federal crime to lie on a tax return!Does the IRS allways check to see if people are married when they file jointly on taxes?
how do you suggest the IRS go about this? Do you know of any magical database listing all the married people in the US?
